News from the Middleware Readiness verification Working Group


The most recent meeting of the Middleware Readiness verification Working Group (MW Readiness WG) took place on September 16th. It was a very good meeting with 14 sites participating, including Russia and the Ukraine, especially interested in MW testing on CernOS7. Here is a brief summary of the topics discussed:

  • The new DPM version is being tested via the ATLAS workflow by the Edinburgh Volunteer site.
  • Many new sites are interested to participate in MW Readiness verification with CentOS7, to anticipate MW behaviour on new HW/OS. E.g. DPM validation on CentOS/SL7 is already ongoing at Glasgow.
  • Developers of the xrootd 4 monitoring plugin, when reading in the minues that it didn't work with dCache v.2.13.8, immediately produced a fix which is now under develpers' testing.
  • FTS3 is now added to the MW products to verify for Readiness. A lot of useful information will come out of these tests, before new versions reach production.
  • The ARGUS collaboration met early September and plans a new meeting again in October. The development team will be enhanced in the near future. This will allow us to better understand the ARGUS behaviour under load and set-up additional tests, as appropriate.
